imo it's fine for a mass market computer to validate software you run, software gets backdoored all time time (look up transmission lmao)

vendor-recoverable backup keys? makes sense for a phone, the #1 device to get accidentally destroyed by users that have never thought about key management

it would be cool if users were better and didn't need guardrails for computers but we've built a world where everybody apparently needs a handheld UNIX machine that runs a shitload of untrustable third-party code to function in society

i've installed gentoo before and i have no desire to replicate that experience on computers i need to use to make money i use to buy food and pay rent

sucks that i have to outsource a lot of computer responsibility to a megacorp where my only methods of recourse are escalating tech support or suing them but it leaves me time to have non-computer parts of my life

@bonzoesc Additionally, you won't be able to sue them as you've probably "agreed" to an arbitration clause. So that's yet another thing to not worry about. :/

@bonzoesc
We forced computers upon people who didn't actually want them, and then some people get upset when those people refuse to learn more than the bare minimum to do very specific things.
